UK Begins New Chapter Outside European Union

February 4, 2020

French president Emmanuel Macron penned an open letter to the British public in which he said, “You are leaving the European Union, but you are not leaving Europe”, addressing the many UK citizens who were opposed to the Brexit referendum. His sentiment is echoed by the majority of European leaders who have expressed disappointment with this conclusion.

This new chapter brings forth a race to sign a trade deal between the UK and the EU as soon as possible, with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson insisting the process must be finalized by the end of the year.

This chapter introduces many questions, including the future of the Euro and the Pound, and their relationship to one another. Many will be closely monitoring the currency pair, which will certainly be sensitive to all trade headlines which are to be announced.
Where do you see the UK-EU relationship heading?
